Ghanaian Soccer Star Sulley Muntari Hands Out Money to Poor People in Brazil

Sully Mantari is one of the reasons the Black Stars almost made it to the Semi Finals 4 years ago. This touching story reflects on the importance of giving back in today's world. For whom much is given much is expected.

" The AC Milan player was reportedly granted special permission by head coach Kwesi Appiah to fulfill his desire of meeting under privileged people in Brazil.During his tour of MaceioMuntari signed autographs and took photos with the locals, and incredibly the African star put his hand in his pocket to hand out money to the people.

" I’ve lived in this poor community behind the Rei Pele Stadium for forty years but have never seen anything like this before. Not once has a soccer player come here. Brazil never gave me anything but Ghana did. I will support them up to the end.

"My 80-year-old mother and I received R$350 [Brazilian reals],” said Inês Corrêa, who went to check out the commotion when police surrounded Muntari. “I believe that he had R$5,000 but unfortunately the police put an end to his good work. In this area we only see politicians at election time."
