2020: Under the Limelight
We all started the year with so much promise and hope that this will be another year filled with success. We also anticipated the many successes we would achieve along our way. But the month of March disrupted these plans and the world had to adopt a new lifestyle to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
In April, during the midst of COVID-19, we supported our community by donating five face masks to homeless shelters in Toronto, Canada, with every purchase made. Spreading the support to Africa, we donated 500 safety goggles to Medical centers fighting COVID-19 in Ghana and Kenya.
We had to share a little act of random kindness by supporting medical workers, at-risk communities, and senior homes.
August brought us some excitement as we were part of the Black-owned brands curated by HBO to create a capsule collection in anticipation of their new TV Series Lovecraft Country. The series premiered on August 16, 2020, on HBO.
Lovecraft Country is an American horror drama television series developed by Misha Green. Starring Jurnee Smollett and Jonathan Majors, 10 episodes have been released on HBO. The story is about a young African American man, Atticus Black, who travels across the 1950s segregated United States in search of his missing father.
In partnership with Miti Alliance, We worked with schools across Kenya in October, to educate children on sustainable and transformational habits that could will make positive impact on peoples’ lives by reducing carbon emissions.
It was an amazing experience partnering with Miti Alliance to positively impact the lives of children in Kenya. In support of our mission to be greener everyday, it was a beautiful sight to behold as children were having fun planting trees. We know that the future is secured in the hands of these young ones.
We can’t end the year 2020 without acknowledging the powerful role technology plays in our operations. Technology has helped us to connect to the people who matter the most to us...
Google has provided us the unique opportunity to grow our community and we are more then exited about the potential this will bring to us as a brand looking to make an impact in its local community.
2020 has been a challenging one, but we look forward to the opportunities and new partnerships 2021 will bring to us.
Irrespective of how the year started for all of us, we owe it to ourselves to end 2020 spending time with the people we cherish and who make us smile.
