Bohten Shines at Visionaries Fashioning Africa NYC: A Celebration of Style & Heritage

Bôhten was front and center this past week as an official partner of Visionaries Fashioning Africa’s pioneering event held during New York Fashion Week.

On February 5th 2025 under the theme, "Bridging Heritage & Innovation: Elevating African Creatives on the Global Stage", the event brought together the African Fashion community to connect, inspire, share, learn and celebrate African fashion and creatives.

Splashlight studio in NYC emanated with high energy throughout the night as guests connected in a space designed to celebrate creativity, community and innovation in Fashion from the continent. With appetizing drinks and delicious food flowing around the room, guests were a buzz with delight as the opportunity to connect, share knowledge and gain insight with African fashion creators was bountiful.

The main highlight of the night was the panel discussion, as Bôhten co-founder and CEO Nana Boateng and 5 other African Fashion industry titans spearheaded an engaging and thought provoking discussion on African Fashion. Other panelists included Jacques Agbobly (@illinoize - founder of Agbobly @agbobly), Amira Rasool @amirarasool - founder and CEO of @thefolklore), Wilglory Tanjong (@wilgloryy founder of luxury handbag brand @anima.iris), Armando Cabral (@armando_cabral - founder of his namesake brand), and Alioune Badara Fall (@aliounebf - founder of clothing brand @by_abf). The captivating discussion was moderated by none other than Irene Ojo-Felix @iojofx - Editorial Director at Models.com and founder of Sola Casting. This powerful panel of African fashion leaders shared lots of insight on the industry and ideas on how as a collective and community we can work together to elevate it.

“Overall it was a great conversation. We spoke about so many things including the position of African fashion today and things we need to do to get ahead. Panelists shared some really great info as well on things like how to Identify your customers, raising money, and even building an e-commerce platform that allows you to grow.”- Co-founder & CEO of Bóhten Nana B

Bôhten was not only represented on stage, but also on the faces of the attendees. Bôhten hosted an activation where guests could try on frames from our Duru, Mufasa & Icon collections. Everyone loved the frames and many didn’t miss the chance to get in on the photo op and be captured in a pair of Bôhten frames.

As an official partner of the event, Bôhten was honored to be a part of creating a space for the African Fashion community to connect, inspire, build bridges and work on creating impact and meaningful ways of moving forward together. Thank you Visionaries Fashioning Africa for partnering with us and continuously working to create these spaces worldwide.
