3 Tips to Make Your Eyewear Last Long
Share
Eyewear lasts long when you buy high-quality eyeglasses and take good care of them. Long-lasting eyewear saves you money. They also protect the environment because you don’t replace them often. Here are three tips to prolong the life of your eyeglasses.
1. Protect your lenses
Avoid cracking or scratching your eyeglasses by always keeping them in their case when you’re not wearing them. The case protects the eyeglasses from dirt and damage.
Use only microfiber cloth to wipe your lenses on the go. The cloth removes dirt without smudging the lens. For a better clean, add a drop of lotion-free dishwashing liquid on the front and back of each lens. Gently lather the lenses, then rinse them under lukewarm or warm water.
You can use eyeglass cleaning spray such as Shield 34108COMB Lens Cleaning Solution and Koala Eyeglass Lens Cleaner Spray to clean your lenses. Avoid cleaning your lenses with any product that contains acetone.
2. Clean your frames
Eyewear frames are prone to scratching. The wood frames on Bohten’s eyewear are durable, but that’s no reason not to treat them well. Clean the wooden frames often. Remove loose dirt by wiping and drifting them with a microfiber cloth.
Dip a microfiber cloth in slightly soapy water, and use it to wipe all the eyeglass surfaces, including the lens. Wipe off any excess water and air-dry the eyeglasses. Finally, lightly buff the frames with lint-free or microfiber cloth dabbed in beeswax, butcher block oil, or lip balm.
3. Buy quality eyewear
Taking great care of your eyewear ensures they last as long as the manufacturer intended. But there’s little you can do to extend their lifespan. So, to get the most years out of your eyewear, you need to get a well-crafted, durable pair of eyeglasses.
