Bôhten x Miti Alliance: 2020's Tree planting initiative in Kenya
Share
Why is this mission so important?
Our most exciting project in 2020 has been the tree planting initiative in Kenya’s local communities! Located in East Africa, the country falls short on recommended forest cover. Forests in Kenya cover around 6.9%, which is lower than the international minimum of 10%. Urban forests help to filter air and water, mitigate flood damage, conserve energy, and provide animal habitats and shade.
To offer our support, we’ve partnered up with Miti Alliance to plant a variety of trees in local schools while educating children on sustainable habits that could make a positive impact on the environment.
SEPT 2020: Gikambura Primary School
The life changing project involved planting indigenous trees in fenced sections of Gikambura Primary School where fruit trees like avocado, passion fruit, tomato, lemon and paw paw can grow without interference.
DEC 2020: Thirime Primary School
It was an amazing sight to behold watching children having fun planting trees. We aim to do many more projects like this to drive positive change in the lives of communities and the environment in 2021.
