Live From the Hub: Wagashi & Wine - A Company Mixer

Close to two dozen Bohten staff members convened for our inaugural company mixer, Wagashi & Wine. The mixer, scheduled to happen quarterly, allowed employees an opportunity to connect, reflect and rewind after a productive and successful first half of 2021.

“It was great to get some in-person quality time with each other with the goal of building rapport and synergy,” said Oku Tetteh, Bohten’s creative producer, who is based in Accra.

The event, held on the last Sunday of June, took place at Bohten’s Accra office, simply called “The Hub.” The location is where our frames are designed and produced before they are sent to our clientele across the globe.

Oku is one of the creative brains at Bohten, but being at the event gave him a first-hand view behind the mechanisms of how our frames are built. More importantly, Covid-19 made it so most staff were forced to work from home. The mixer provided him an opportunity to put faces to names for many of the people he has worked with remotely over Zoom meetings and phone calls, he said.

“What the mixer did was create an interactive environment in a relaxed, informal setting where people didn’t feel like they had to be “on” and perform,” he recounted. “It allowed us to let our hair down and show up as ourselves.”
